Bekah Shenk

Coach Bekah Shenk attended Taylor University and received a double major in Exercise Science and International Studies. She competed on the Taylor Cross Country and Track Teams all four years. She started as a volunteer coach at Pierre Moran Middle School for 2 years before becoming a head coach at Elkhart Central. In her free time, she enjoys training for and competing in endurance races. Her best 5k time is 18:56 and her best marathon time is 3:09:38. She has run 20 marathons including the Boston Marathon 3 times. She has also finished 4 half Ironman Triathlons and 2 Full Ironman Triathlons. She enjoys traveling and has spent over 5 years of her life living in other countries than the United States. Her travels have taken her to 5 of the 7 continents. She teaches Geography and History of the World at the EHS Freshmen Division.

Adam Homo

The 2023 season marks Adam Homo’s 16th year coaching boys’ cross country. 

As a boys coach, Coach Homo’s overall record is 49-66. His 2018 boys’ team earned the following titles: Northern Lakes Conference Champions, Sectional Champions, and Regional Champions. Coach Homo was named Northern Lakes Conference Coach of the Year for the 2018 season. In terms of the boys, Coach Homo has sent 6 teams into Regional competition and 1 team to Semi-State competition.  

Coach Homo graduated from Elkhart Central High School in 1992. He was a four year three-sport athlete competing for Dana Homo in cross country, Howard Haines and Andy Scupham in swimming, and Tom Kurth in track. Coach Homo competed as the sixth man on the 1990 Elkhart Central cross country team that placed 11th in the State meet. He also competed in the State swim meet for three consecutive seasons. Coach Homo attended Wabash College where he ran one season of track for Rob Johnson and swam four seasons for Gail Pebworth. As a swimmer, Coach Homo earned the “Some Little Giant Award” twice and was named Captain his senior year. Coach Homo earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Wabash College in 1996. Coach Homo then worked with AmeriCorps for a year before attending Indiana State University, where he earned his teaching licensure in the Fall of 1999 and a Masters of Science degree in English Teaching in 2003.
